Open Technology highly commended at BusinessGreen Leaders Awards 2013
Lighting control specialist Open Technology has been highly commended at the prestigious BusinessGreen Leaders Awards 2013 for their pioneering project with the National Gallery.
Open Technology’s work was recognised in the Energy Efficiency Project of the Year category, which is designed to highlight how innovative technologies and approaches can deliver financial and environmental benefits for organisations.
Open Technology designed and executed a project to replace the existing lighting at the National Gallery with highly efficient LED technology combined with an intelligent, digital control system.
The project saw the gallery become the first institution in the world to use LEDs in conjunction with a system that automatically adjusts external roof light blinds according to the amount and angle of sunlight.
Overall the installation achieved total energy savings of 765,00 Kwh and reduced CO2 emissions by an average of 417 tonnes per annum. The Gallery has seen a reduction of £53,600 on energy bills and a further saving of £36,000 in maintenance bills.
Last night, 350 executives, entrepreneurs, politicians and campaigners gathered for the 3rd Annual BusinessGreen Leaders Awards, which celebrate the leading businesses and individuals from across the green economy.
